PUSH/PULL Exhibition Project

2025

Cataloguing In Progress

use whatever you’d like
make whatever you’d like
stay as long as you’d like

Aftercare Space was a participatory art installation central to the PUSH/PULL Exhibition Project. The space functioned as a transitory area for creative meditation and conversation after visitors exited the intense sensory experience of IN/OUT/THRU︎︎︎.

All the items in
the communal crafting space were carefully selected to facilitate playful and tactile exploration of ideas and materials featured in the show. The Aftercare Space Art Archive features the drawings, poetic musings, scribbles, and sculptures thoughtfully created by the visitors of the PUSH/PULL Exhibition Project︎︎︎.

About the Aftercare Space

Stamps, stickers, and little envelopes nest in the space between baskets of red and blue fabric scraps. Quilt-pattern coloring pages, glue sticks, and needles tucked into family heirloom pin cushions are available for creative play. Children’s books and games rest neatly next to floor cushions stacked atop reclaimed palette wood stools—the space was outfitted thoughtfully thanks to the creative minds, hardworking hands, and generous support of many—built communally for communal use.

A lowset table invites visitors to sit and stay awhile. Between the ambient hum of the soundscape of IN/OUT/THRU, scissors snip through felt, we hear pencils zig and zag over paper. Some moments are quiet and others the chatter between friends and strangers finds no pause.

Over time, the walls are filled with the makings and musings of artists come and gone.
